Chief Counsellor's Log, Stardate 70631.4.

Lieutenant Neteri "Ikran" Shannon, the Poseidon's Starfighter Group Commander, came into my office this morning rather abruptly and in a dishevelled state. She's in a heightened emotional state of distress, currently experiencing traumatic flashbacks to memories rather left behind, particularly in the wake of the death of the late Lieutenant Pavan.

She has admitted to me that she is currently suffering from severe sleep deprivation due to a feeling a great deal of anxiety at the prospect of sleep, likely due to fear of revisiting past trauma. After a short discussion I've encouraged her to approach Lieutenant T'vek, the Chief Medical Officer, and seek a prescription of sleep medication. Meanwhile, I will have to devise a programme of meditation and joint telepathy which I can administer in the hopes of repairing the current traumatic "echoes" that are riddling her mind.

It will be a potentially very risky treatment, especially if her emotions continue to be so severe, but at this stage in Lieutenant Shannon's life the risk of it taking root is an even greater risk to her quality of life. I believe so long as we can maintain an appropriate boundary, both during our sessions and our other interactions on the ship, we can mitigate any potential for emotional "seeping" which might result in a prolonged case of Zanthi fever.

After talking she seemed to recollect herself quite well, but that may be temporary. It depends on if and when she is able to attain some rest. I'll set a reminder for myself to check in with her within the next few days as we get closer to Starbase Forty-Seven.
