The Sim
The U.S.S. Poseidon (NCC-42635) is a Miranda-class Destroyer operated by Starfleet Academy. Her primary objectives are to train the next generation of Starfleet Cadets. Her secondary objectives are the security of civilian and military convoys and freighters to outlaying Federation frontier worlds, and anti-piracy operations. Recently updated and overhauled with modern technology and systems, she represents the a perfect option for training of cadets and critical escort, security, and discovery missions.
The U.S.S. Poseidon is an excellent example of a ship in the middle ground of Starfleet perimeters. Here, new cadets can make a name for themselves generally away from most hostile situations. The tasks of convoy escorting and system security are considered to be easy-going, especially in the modern day and age of 2396. There is always the chance for excitement, however, and no cadet or senior member of Starfleet should exclude that possibility.
