Welcome Refugees of the USS Oberon!

Posted on Monday April 17th, 2023 @ 7:44pm by Captain Franklin Johnson

Hey crew,

I'd like to take a moment to welcome the remaining crew of the USS Oberon who, at the suggestion of one of our own, committed themselves to approaching our community. Their decision to join us has bolstered our ranks with some very veteran, very capable crew who have done fantastic joint posts and stories of their own. As the Commanding Officer of this Community and Captain of the USS Poseidon, I want to thank you all for your trust in us as a community in our capacity to love and appreciate you for who you are. You are wonderful, veteran, capable simmers who have already displayed so much love and potential as absolutely golden simmers and community peers. Thank you all for making us your home and, however permanent or temporary it may be, we sincerely hope you enjoy your stay!

I'd like to also apologize to Andy. I admit my mistakes, and I admit during his initial arrival I was not the most welcoming as I exhibited caution to the extreme. Once I was made aware of who he was, I corrected myself. I should never have had to correct myself, Andy, and I should have instead treated you accordingly and with respect. Although it was all professional dialogue, I could have handled it far more appropriately and respectfully nonetheless. I sincerely apologize to you and thank you for choosing us regardless of my welcome.

I'd like to also take this time to thank old members of the USS Poseidon who have returned after our fleet transfer! Your additions to our community, your return, has been marked with absolutely wonderful community participation and storytelling. Thank you to all of you who have chosen to return, and we are so better for it! I eager hope you will remain with us for many years as your previous contributions have helped make who we are today. Without you, we wouldn't be here, and with you again we are surely the better for it!

I want to apologize to my Command Staff and those I have demoted. I assure you it is not personal and it is not targeted. I have had to make some very hard decisions and calls lately on behalf of our communities survival. Your contributions have been vital to this community and I would be a horrible Commanding Officer if I did not do everything I could to preserve it. I assure you, to those I've demoted or changed the roles of, I value your contributions. You literally helped define the roles you had. If I do demote you, change you, or place you differently it's because I know that you'll do better in those positions and that the community can work with you better also. I further do these things to help up and coming members of our community contribute, to let them shine, and to give them a chance.

Everyone deserves that critical chance to shine and I will always aim to provide it, should I see the potential and eagerness to.

I most sincerely apologize to T'vek who is enduring a horrible time of things. I understand this, and I wish I could provide more clemency for these issues. I did what I did so you could have the delicate time to dedicate your efforts to your personal affairs. I in no way wanted to detract from your contributions or your efforts, and I am sincerely sorry if it has damaged our friendship. I must put the community first, however, and I thank you for all you've done. When things settle, you are most welcomed back if there's a slot available.

Finally, Thank YOU to my crew, all of you. I thank God that He has provided me the opportunity to find you wonderful people, friends and acquaintances alike, to make this dream of mine prosper. I thank those especially who stayed with us through the transfer, to those who have helped make us what we are. Without you all, we wouldn't be here. Without your hard work and contributions the Poseidon would not exist. Thank you for making us what we are. Thank you for continuing my dream of a Star Trek Community, because you all have made it possible. I am extremely wonderfully blessed to be around you all.

With Deep Sincerity,
Captain Franklin Johnson
Commanding Officer
USS Poseidon
