The USS Poseidon Maintains her Course

Hey ya'll,

It's a pleasure to once again have the time to write a news announcement. My XO, Kanaka, has been extremely dedicated these last few months in ensuring my time away dedicated to my work did not hamper or negatively effect the sim. To them, I give my heartfelt thanks and everlasting gratitude. Without their vision, support, commitment, friendship, and general brotherhood I wouldn't have kept the course of the past year and likely may have been forced to move on. Thanks to them, and to the awesome community of the USS Poseidon, I am more committed than ever before.

As you are aware through recent discord announcements, our beloved Executive Officer has come under the negative effects of COVID. I ask that while extending well wishes and checking on them is acceptable, that all other communication pertaining to the sim is kept to a minimum. Dealing with COVID in their situation is extremely difficult and they need all the space necessary to focus on their healing.

Kanaka, brother and friend, please get better. As I told you in private, do not be concerned with the Poseidon. Dedicate your time to yourself and other pursuits if necessary to help focus on your healing. If you have time and want to, we're here. Don't push yourself! Our well wishes and prayers are with you, my brother and friend! Get well soon!

Now onto the sim announcement and what to expect moving forward during this time.

===General Sim Announcement===

As of this moment I have slowed the pace of the mission to better fit the current situation we, as Command Staff, have found ourselves in. Kanaka is the primary controller of all plot-related and mission-related triggers and movements on this sim. That is their positional rights and what I have defined as the responsibility of my Executive Officer. They have single-handedly defined and elaborated on those responsibilities and as such, their absence from the sim greatly impacts our performance.

Thankfully, over the last several months I began to institute and create contingencies in the event of just such a situation. As you are aware, we have a healthy Command Staff presence as well as a clearly defined chain of command. As stated in the recent Discord Announcement, this is the current chain of command during this active contingency:

Active XO:
Puppy (Major Phoebe Graydon, Ship's 2XO).

Backup XO #1:
T'vek (Lt. Cmndr. Nivora T'vek, Chief Medical Officer, Ship's 3XO)
Backup XO #2:
T'Pri (Lt. Cmndr. T'Pri, Chief Intelligence Officer, Ship's 4XO)

I, as Commanding Officer, will take over the control of the plot and mission. Puppy and the Backup XO's will act as support and help situate the community as I hand down the directives. We will continue our mission pace, however it will be considerably slowed and better situated to the current contingency. During this time, any questions pertaining to the plot please consult myself and any questions pertaining to the ship please consult the Active XO and the Backup XO's.

If at any time Kanaka decides to interact with the community during their illness, their words are still to be considered that of the Executive Officer and to supersede all others - even myself if it pertains to plot and mission matters.

The Current Mission Situation:

As of this moment, the USS Poseidon is to have been considered undocked from Starbase 129 and in the process of departing the vicinity. The plot will move forward accordingly when the appropriate JP - still in progress - is completed. Only then will we depart the vicinity of the Starbase. All Players are more than encouraged to continue with current JP's and to situate themselves accordingly, focusing on backlog if necessary and free to explore any JP topic.

===Final Remarks===

I'd like to first congratulate Puppy and T'pri for dedicating their time to undergoing the XO courses. Puppy has historically had a difficult time due to their line of work in the medical field, however recently they have demonstrated excellent progress and commitment that I am extremely proud of! Excellent work Puppy and keep up the good work!

T'Pri has demonstrated outstanding commitment and is already in the process of finalizing and finishing her XO courses with Pegasus Fleet. I am extremely proud of them and would like to personally thank them for their dedication! Good work and excellent job!

Lieutenant Calvin Hirsch has completed his one-year anniversary on our sim. I am extremely grateful to Mr. Hirsch and I would like to thank them again for being such an awesome part of our community! Congratulations and looking forward to many years more!
