Concerning Inactive Players

Dear Crew of the USS Poseidon,

Over the next few weeks I'll be more hard on inactive players. This means players who do not communicate. You may notice the number of individuals who are active dwindle, this will be normal. Of all the players who have been on the USS Poseidon, the majority of our long-term players have no issue in informing us about anything, about needing Leave (since we have a free LOA policy), and about their activity. Sometimes folks don't have inspiration to write for a few weeks, and that's normal, and that's okay with me because they communicated that with me. However there have been a few who do not and who I have my eye on.

Recently due to several weeks of inactivity I kicked Amelia from the game. This player had basically left my XO, 2XO, and my 3XO in the dark - as well as their department head - and just decided not to care anymore. They refused to contact me back when I attempted, several times (especially when I was in the hospital), to communicate with them. There is a limit to my patience as your CO and Game Master, and this player reached it. They were given their character information in DM and two days to take what information they needed of their character from the website, and still no communication. Afterwards, they were kicked from the discord and removed from the website.

No communication is not tolerable. Players who join and do not communicate over a period of several weeks will be kicked. If I don't hear from you, or I don't have a valid excuse, you will be kicked. Players, like our long-standing players who've been here a while, are not under threat because they have the ability to communicate like respectful people. To all others, take this as a warning, I will not tolerate disrespect to myself or my ship and crew by you leaving us in the dark. You will be written off and excused.

We have a FREE LEAVE OF ABSENCE policy on this ship which only takes a few seconds to a few minutes to go through. After that, you tell us how much leave you need, and we give it. We are *very* liberal with our leave policies and *very* forgiving with players who communicate issues with posting for periods - but that's what it requires, COMMUNICATION. You have to do your part to show us the respect required to give you the respect you deserve. No communication to staff and fellow players equals no player commitment, and will be grounds for removal from this sim here on out.

Thank you,
Captain Franklin Johnson
Commanding Officer
USS Poseidon
