State of the Sim: August 16th, 2020

Hello Crew,
As we move further into the Month of August in 2020 and closer to September, let us all remember the valiant efforts of our front line workers and medical professionals. As you are aware, I came down with COVID-19 around the 29th of July. It has been a grueling and hard experience, and I want to thank each and every one of you for being there for me during that time. I'd also like to apologize for my general absences and express my commitment to continuing to Command the USS Poseidon. You are all like family to me, and I want to make sure we keep going at a good pace for everyone to enjoy.
Around this Month, a few of our crew celebrated their one-year anniversaries on the SIM! I was very expressive on the Discord in our #announcements channel about my appreciation and I wanted to extend that appreciation to our general news announcement. In brief, here's a thank you to those crew members:
--To Commander Kanaka Shakura, for being a stalwart friend and partner in the operation of this sim, thank you for one year of participation on the sim!
--To Major Phoebe Graydon, for being a stalwart friend and helping to get the ball rolling originally and sticking around to help us further, thank you for one year of participation on the sim!
--To Lt. Cmndr. Karn, for being an awesome and funny guy and general hero of the community, thank you for one year of participation on the sim!
--To Lt. Cmndr. Neteri Shannon, for having lovable and memorable characters with such impact, thank you for one year of participation on the sim!
--To Lt. Cmndr. Freya Mannerheim, for being a critical part of the community and a valued friend to most, thank you for one year of participation on the sim!
--To Lt. Hibiki Zh'kallas, for being a valued friend and confidant through the year of operation of this sim and being a loved member of the community, thank you for one year of participation on the sim!
--To Cadet Freshman Daisey Stanier, we hope to see you again soon and we know the hardship going on, we hope for the best, and look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for one year of participation on the sim!

I'd like to personally congratulate Lt. Cmndr. T'Pri also on their recent successes in Pegasus Fleet with their goal as CO of their own SIM. Players like T'Pri are the very reason the USS Poseidon exists today. It has always been my goal to create and foster an atmosphere to encourage players to seek those heights, and I am very honored when I hear of such players on my sim aiming for their goals like that. To everyone who has before and will ever, Congratulations and thank you. Never stop dreaming.
If any player on the USS Poseidon ever needs help being assigned to the Academy, don't hesitate to contact me via DM on Discord. I will personally place you on the waiting list and make sure things get situated. There is an XO 9First Officer) course available and a CO (Commanding Officer) course available. If requested, I will gladly help where I can to see you achieve your goals and my DM is always open to help with ideas.
Lastly, the USS Poseidon will be working on finishing our promotions and awards posts so that our characters can be properly promoted. I have a doctors appointment on the 17th and I hope either before or after then I should move things along. Thank you to everyone for your patience with me.
