Poseidon of its originally assigned mission of ferrying relief to Cardassian Space due to the circumstances that have presented itself. Starfleet Command has therefore assigned the Poseidon to be based out of Starbase 47 for the foreseeable future, to conduct patrols in the nearby space when necessary for the protection of both the Starbase and the local sector from increased pirate activity.
