| General Overview | Karn is a Lurian under contract by the Royal Family of Lurian to settle disputes by various rival groups of questionable legality in the Ionite Nebula. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | As a Lurian, he is naturally strong and tough with multiple organs that allow him to sustain multiple hits. Like other members of his kind, he can be quite loquacious and he uses his quick tongue to get out of trouble quickly. As a hired mediator, he is adept at working deals between two fighting factions. When that fails, he is also adept at knocking the two opposing sides into submission. This 'my way or the highway' can be grating on other members of Starfleet who are more accustomed to following a set of rules. His habit of talking in and out of trouble also causes tension between the normally tight lipped Starfleet security forces. Karn has very little sense of formality and his early reviews show he can be too relaxed on the bridge. |

| Personal History | Karn was serving as a 'consultant to the royal family during the Cardassian War. The outpost where he was working fell under attack by the Jem'Hadar despite the Lurian's being neutral. The attack killed the senior Starfleet security officer and the outpost was in danger of falling. Deciding that he "was not going to die on this rock" - Karn rallied the remaining security forces and repelled the attackers. This earned him the attention of Starfleet and they requested his expertise. The Royal Family then assigned Karn as an advisor to the federation before participating in an officer exchange program on board the Poseidon. |
