A Question of Course

Dear Crewmates of the U.S.S. Poseidon,
The Command Staff and I hope this announcement finds you all well and that you had a safe and pleasant Christmas and New Year. Unfortunately, we wish we could say that we were in better spirits at this moment in time.
As I'm sure you've all well noticed by now, we've all been a bit absent from the sim lately. This is not something any one of us would like to be the case, but due to a confluence of factors personal, professional and general, each of us has been finding it particularly hard to dedicate the energy we would otherwise like to give to the sim. We had all hoped that the slow pace would be picked up sometime in the past two years, but circumstances largely out of any of our control - the pandemic, and the impact it has had on our individual lives in different ways - have shown no signs of letting up.
The death of one of our former crewmates, Annabel, has also been a significant factor in the most recent downtick in activity. They were a large part of the foundation of the Poseidon both in it's first iteration and this one, and with her death, it has left a void that is not easily filled. To the point that we have wondered whether it's best to continue.
Of course we realise that none of this has been ideal for the sim, or for any of you as players, to whom we are incredibly grateful for having been so patient with us and been accommodating to our slow pace. We are as ever proud with what you've all been able to come up with and create with us here, despite everything that has gone on for us all over the past two years. So we thought you deserved to know that we were all in this rut, and we wanted to ask you what you think we ought to do next.
As we see it, there are a few options:
1) Stay the current course, and continue as planned, accepting that things might remain slow for quite some time.
2) Shorten the planned story significantly, with the intent of seeing the Poseidon to some sort of a conclusion within the year, with the understanding that again things might still be slow (but we will aim to push the plot forward more).
3) Retire the Poseidon.
We would like to have an open conversation with you all about these potential options over on our Discord, and understand what you as a group would prefer most. If the Poseidon is still a valuable escape for you all in the times as they are, then we're absolutely committed to making sure it continues. But if you would all also rather use the time elsewhere, then there's no hard feelings if you would prefer we retire. Be assured that we're not rushing towards any immediate decision, but we wanted to give you all a chance to consider the future with us and be part of that conversation. Until we reach a consensus, we will continue as we are.
If you have any questions or thoughts, we'd be happy to hear them over on the Discord. You can also reach out to me privately if you'd prefer.
Wishing you all the best,
Cmdr. Kanaka "Kana" Shakura

I would hate to see the Poseidon retire, but I understand Real Life is always calling us in many directions. I am at fault for not being always up on the SIM but I am trying to keep up. I am on two other sims and work for a university as the liaison for the US Army and the University I am employed with.
